The lead color is the value the others are converted from. On automatic, that is the screen color where one is given, otherwise the print color, otherwise the spot color. Fields left empty are converted from it; where that conversion strays too far from the original, the application says so. A spot color is measured, never calculated.

Target

A goal you set, not a verdict a standard reaches. Minimum holds WCAG 2 to level AA, APCA to Lc75 and DIN 32975 to K 0.7; Enhanced raises the first two to level AAA and Lc90, and DIN 32975 publishes nothing above its own.

The color your translucent colors lie on, usually the background of the page. Every pair is measured the way a screen shows it on this ground, and it stays white until you set another one.

Printing condition

Applies to deriving print values. The luminance factor used for measuring contrast is always determined absolute colorimetric, independently of this.

The print preview converts the print colors back to the screen through the profile. On an uncalibrated monitor that is an indication, not a binding statement.

Text on colors

Black or white on a color, whichever reads better by the procedure chosen. WCAG 2 meets 4.5:1 on every color; Auto takes APCA, or WCAG 2 where the system asks for more contrast.
